Villa Litta route

Villa Litta (Lainate - MI)

The Villa Litta Borromeo in Lainate is one of the most beautiful villas in Italy; built in 1585 by Count Pirro I Visconti Borromeo.

It boasts splendid architecture and a marvellous garden, in which the Palazzo Delle Acque, better known as the Nymphaeum, is located, where the still functioning water features create an extremely avant-garde and immortal scenographic effect.

They are considered one of the highest examples of hydraulics of this kind in Europe. Recommended on hot summer days, to cool off from the ‘canicule’.

The route offers a relaxing bike ride mostly on the ‘Villoresi’ cycle path/cycleway.
